Lived in Tampa for 3 years and we've been to all of the sushi places in S. Tampa and Ybor. None of these places have made me excited to eat sushi and have been incredibly inconsistent. We went to Ninja last week and went again tonight. This is, without hesitation, the best quality sushi in Tampa. Our whole party was impressed, and there's no other sushi that comes close in Tampa. Highly recommend. I almost didn't write this review because we want to keep it a secret....it's that good. Update after 4 times eating here. Unbelievably consistent and amazing. Don't waste your time and money going anywhere else. We're officially done with the other sushi places in S. Tampa.

Phenomenal sushi, great conversation at the sushi bar with Bill and the other chef. Michelle, the manager, made me feel very welcome and made a point to ask me what my name was and introduced me to her husband Bill (owner). I WILL come back regularly. Everyone who is looking for a great sushi place, good prices, and large portions check this place out.

Visiting from Boston, we went to Sushi Ninja and really enjoyed ourselves. The food was DELICIOUS. Nice cuts of fish, well prepared and very tasty. The service was professional and pleasant.

Mediocre at best. Decent sushi but nothing to brag about and very pricey for what you get.

The is the second location for Sushi Ninja which has been a Brandon fixture - and favorite - for a few years. The Tampa site replaces a former furniture store which required extensive remodeling to convert to a kitchen and restaurant. But the outcome is stunning and striking and probably places this among the most appealing sushi restaurant interiors I can recall. The Tampa location has a couple advantages over its Brandon counterpart. Namely a full liquor bar and a significant selection of Korean dishes. There is a private dinning room, plenty of places at a counter overlooking the sushi chefs, booths and tables so the options of where to sit can range from intimate to interactive. The server was extremely patient and helpful, both plusses because the menu is extensive and I imagine most diners will appreciate some recommendations or explanations to help them reach a decision. I went for the sushi and marveled at the artful dish ware, plentiful array of plump, fresh seafood and elegant presentation. My friend was also set for sushi until the cooking aromas convinced her to go for one of the Korean selections. She was more than happy and, despite a valiant effort, could not come close to finishing her food. Even if you are not a fan of raw fish there are plenty of rolls featuring cooked ingredients along with soups, salads and teriyaki to tempura selections. Plus there is a Ninja Kids menu that make this an ideal place for families to enjoy.

I ate here last week and was very impressed. The 6 different sushi rolls our group ate were all delicious. I don't eat sushi too often but compared to the few other places that I've had sushi in Tampa, this place was the best. As far as Korean food goes, I've been eating it my whole life and lived in Korea for a year. I ordered ten piece yachimandu and it was the best I've ever eaten. The server said that they were all made from scratch and didn't come frozen. I definitely believe it. I ordered them fried instead of steamed. At other restaurants they look deep fried and are usually covered in oil. Not here! They were delicious! I'll be eating here again soon and will order bulgogi beef and try that out.

I usually only leave a review if a place is truly deserving and this place is no exception. This place has a great sushi menu and also a great Korean menu that I feel like goes unnoticed!! It's never too packed, the place is conveniently located, the staff are attentive and nice, and the food is great! My water glass is never empty, and I've never had to wait long for fresh sushi to be prepared. If you're new to Korean food ask for the Dolsoat. It's excellent!

We had some miso soup, crab rangoons and sushi and everything was so so good. We had Special Volcano roll, Cherry Blossom and Fire Roll. All were so so good. Cherry blossom and Special Volcano were topped with amazing baked fish mixtures. We try crab rangoons everywhere we go and these were some of the best we've had. Definitely going back to try their Korean Menu.

We were in a hurry and needed to stop & pick up some food to add to the gathering we were attending. I had heard & read good things about Sushi Ninja and thought it would bring a different flare and vibe to the people we were meeting. The menus were extensive and I didn't have time to leisurely peruse them completely on this visit. We quickly ordered 3 appetizers of crab ragoon, 3 orders of tempura fried vegetables and 8 assorted pieces of raw fish sushi. The server understood our urgency and time restraints, on this particular evening and really worked with us to get us on our way quickly. There was no time, unfortunately to sit and enjoy a cocktail. The inside of the restaurant is a real breath of fresh air & what I would imagine to be authentic. It was very contemporary, sleek, modern and quite stunning overall. The fish tank is mesmerizing and the sushi & regular bar, we're quite inviting. Our order was ready and after paying what I considered way too much we were on our way. The food was met with a very enthusiastic reception & 2 thumbs up all the way around, even from me. There is no doubt the restaurant is beautiful and high end. The sampling of food we sampled, was spot on, fresh and vibrent. I am still thrown by the prices. I defiantly need to return, when I can relax with a cocktail and really study the menus. Then I can leisurely select my food and enjoy it in the appealing ambiance of the restaurant vibe. What's a girl to do? You get accustomed to a certain price point & then meet sticker shock.

The place was nicely located and easy to find. the staff was friendly normal customer service experience. Now the food was good and the portion size was good for the price sushi tasted fresh and nice presentation.

Decent sushi at market price. Not worth drive to here from st Pete. The place was nice with friendly staff. It is average imo. We went here because my gf who is a sushi snob got reccomendation from her friends.

Excellent and unique choices. The fish quality is very good. Have been to their Brandon location plenty and I'm even more impressed with their new Tampa restaurant. Great service, well worth the price. I'll come again and soon.

We had Cocktail on the rocks green tea - it was strong and delicious. Seafood pancake - should be called scallion pancake. There was only squid, no other seafood. Our pancake came in 8 slices. I had at least one whole slice without any seafood. On average, I had squid once in every 3 or 4 bites. The pancake was soft, could have been a little crunchier. I would not order this again. Sa Ri One has much better seafood pancake. Baby octopus salad - it was okay. 2 rolls: crazy mexican & rock & roll. They both were okay. Kalbi beef short ribs - good portion and very flavorful. Service was good. Our bill came to about $87.

I only have good things to say about Sushi Ninja Tampa!! I like how this place is located on Kennedy Blvd., where on weekends I can eat dinner here and just head out to bars in SoHo afterwards since it's so close. The restaurant inside is designed in a clean modern Asian style with a long, sleek looking sushi bar. There is also a drinking bar with a bartender that makes any drink you desire! The ambiance is fun, while you have "makes me want to dance with my socks off" kind of electronic/house music playing in the background. This place is great for dates or for just wanting to hang out with your group of friends. They have a private room where you can reserve birthday parties, special events, meetings or even large party dinners. One time when I was here for dinner, I saw about 25 people fit comfortably in the private room for a birthday party. So not only do they have sushi (and other Japanese foods from the Japanese menu), and cocktails that are made just for you, but they also have....KOREAN CUISINE!! My favorite sushi rolls are the "Paradise Roll" and "That Sweet Burn" roll. For dinner, I at least order one sushi roll with my Korean entrée. I am in love with their Seafood pancake and Spicy chicken that are both on the Korean appetizer menu. I have no favorite Korean entrees here because I LIKE ALL OF THEM! They have popular Korean entrees like Bibimbop, Soondubu and Galbi and they are all YUMMY! Last but not least, the service here is excellent! All the workers here are really nice and they do go that extra mile to accommodate your needs and to make sure that your experience at Sushi Ninja Tampa is a good one. The owner (Mimi) stops by at your table to make sure that everyone is enjoying their meal. I'm definitely coming back again and again!

Best sushi in town and the cocktail are amazing ! I've had the bucs roll, crazy ninja and Korean's menu #15 bulgogi with the bartenders special cocktail with Veev cucumbers and cilantro really refreshing can't wait for happy hour !

Considering how amazing all the reviews were, I was surprised at how disappointed I was. It took a while before the server came in to take our drink order. Food took a while, and the cherry blossom roll I ordered was pretty flavorless. Food came out very sporadically which I realize with sushi can happen, but there was an extreme difference in the length of time between the first and the last dish that was ordered. The server was extremely nice and was trying her best, but I gotta feeling like she had too many tables. Not sure I'll be back...

Sushi Ninja is my new favorite sushi in town! Every roll was extremely fresh and presentation was wonderful. The beef teriyaki was the best I've had in a long time. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is bc of the ginger dressing. It's too sweet & has a mango flavor. Otherwise everything was on point!

  • Matthew H.

Service at the ninja was slow, waited over 5 minutes at hostess stand to be seated, food was overpriced for what it was. Noodles were not served hot although taste was great. Won't be back.

This place is REALLY good! We've been here twice and will be back again and again. They have a large menu and the food and service are great. Sushi: I believe the server said that they have 70 different sushi rolls. I just know that there are several long pages filled with the rolls, with lots of different combinations that I've never seen. They will also amend them to your liking. I don't like asparagus, so this works well for me. The first time we came I had 3 of the rolls: KoKo(Alaskan Snow Crab, avocado, & spicy salmon), Sky(krab & cream cheese topped with salmon and wasabi mayo, & Angel(fried krabstick, cream cheese, & avocado inside topped with baked spicy krab outside). They were all good but the sky was my favorite. Today I had the crazy ninja roll, which had a lot going on inside but it's really good. There's fried shrimp, snow crab, avocado, & cucumber inside topped with krab, spicy tuna, & wasabi mayo. A lot, but it works. Korean food: Today with the exception of the crazy ninja roll, we tried the Korean food. My wife had the seafood soondubu cheegae and said it was the best she's had here in Tampa(vs Matoi & Sa Ri One). I had the spicy bbq chicken and share the same sentiments. It was juicy and flavorful with plenty of but not too much spice. There was also a lot of it. We both had leftovers, which I have packed for lunch tomorrow with still a bit more left for an appetizer or snack. The wife had the doalsoat beebeembap on our previous visit while I was immersed in sushi, which she also loved. The little one came today and had the veggie udon soup. The kids menu has several other choices as well. The service was very good. The staff was really friendly and chatted with us quite a bit. The owner conversed with us for a while on both trips and is quite friendly, which is not what we're accustomed too when eating at a Korean restaurant. Several of the other staff came by to chat as well(partly because everyone thinks my wife is Korean even though she's Japanese), and we felt quite welcomed here. The sushi chefs were chatting it up with diners at the sushi bar too. As far as price, it came to roughly the same for the 3 of us as it usually does at Matoi. There is a cool vibe inside, the decor is neat, it's very clean(especially the bathroom, which is also pretty cool) and comfortable. There is also a bar with some creative drinks(like sake sangria and Asian wine flights). Parking is on the east side of the restaurant, so coming down Kennedy from the west(like from Dale Mabry) you will get to the building and turn in before seeing the parking lot. This is our new favorite Korean and sushi place, hence the 5 stars.

My husband and I went here for lunch the other week. Their crab wontons were really good, you could taste the crab and I love that. The roll I got the lightning roll and it was really good. The ambiance in the restaurant was really good, I'm a fan and I'd definitely go back!

  • Marleena C.

This place was not the best. I am not sure why so many reviews are four and five stars though.. Maybe there are not many sushi places in that area..but every roll my husband and I ordered was loaded with sauces cream cheese and tempura crunch. It was almost too much. While maybe one or two pieces would have been enough.. Eating the whole roll was almost impossible for us. I guess I am just used to plain rolls with no crazy frills. It took a very long time to get the rolls we ordered too. I would not go back.

I've been looking for a new sushi spot to go to, especially in South Tampa, since I live in Carrollwood and I am so glad to have found Sushi Ninja! I went for lunch on Friday and immediately was greeted by the GM upon entering the restaurant. It wasn't crowded at all, which is awesome because if you've ever tried to go to lunch somewhere in South Tampa wait times are horrible and the crowds are annoying. I do anticipate this place becoming a hot spot since the food was so, so good and the service was great too. I loved the lunch special, (pick two rolls and a soup or salad for $9.95.) I had the spicy tuna and OK roll which were both delicious. I will be returning to Sushi Ninja soon... Probably next week lol

I can't say how much I love this place. Its an addiction! I can't eat sushi anywhere else now because Sushi Ninja is the best! The rolls are so fresh and tasty. The staff is so friendly. It's my favorite place to eat in Tampa.

Tried this new Korean/Japanese restaurant last night. The kalbi was very tasty and the lychee cocktail was yummy. The seafood pancake was maybe undercooked. It wasn't toasty and crispy; the batter was too doughy or something. We ordered what we thought was a snail dish that was a hot entree but it was a giant snail salad. It would be nice as a small appetizer salad. Sushi was ok, Didn't like the rave music playing.

3 stars because it was not mind blowing great and it was not bad either . Decent sushi at reasonable prices . I did take away so the service was quick , the staff helpful . Should I be in the part of town , I would give it another. Whirl to try the Korean side .

I've been looking for a go-to sushi spot in Tampa, and now my search is over! The service is very friendly, and the atmosphere is comfortable and cozy. The crazy salmon and red dragon rolls are SO good and satisfying. The sushi is very fresh, and the chef does a great job pairing flavors without overdoing it on the sauces. Their sushi roll menu is extensive - there is something for all different sushi tastes. I highly recommend! Unfortunately, I have not tried be Korean side of the menu. My friend did rave about the bulgolgi during my last visit.

This restaurant has great Korean food. We got the sweet and spicy chicken as an appetizer. They had great flavor, crispy, and on the spicer side. We also got Korean dumplings; they weren't bad but needed a little more flavor. The best part of the meal was the kalbi. It was delicious and offered generous portion sizes. I would definitely get this meal again. The prices are consistent with other Korean restaurants. The service was also great and the restaurant itself is nice and clean.

I love sushi. Let me start with that. We came here on a Saturday at 2pm. There were 11 people in the restaurant to include my party of 3. We waited for 5-10 minutes before the waitress came to meet us. She only came over after my husband got up to see what the issue was. We put in our drink and food order at the same time. Two of us got our drinks. Then when the food came, it was all at different times. We were done eating and then alas a missing roll showed up; however, before it did we asked to just cancel it all together since it's been a half hour. The waitress came with it anyways and said "Here, it's ready!". We literally had a staring contest for minutes because she insisted that we ordered it and here it was ready to eat. Wah? Seriously? We ordered it and it never came until 30 minutes after we had finished our other food and only after checking on it multiple times. Then came the checks. Oh lawd. First ours. We paid and our cards were ran. Then the waitress came back with our friend's check. I don't know what the hell is going on here but the management is seriously lacking. Maybe hire more than one waitress for starters, and if you're going to have only one, make sure she's efficient. Oh, and my friend's lobster roll had shell all in it. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy. Save yourself and go down the road to Soho Sushi.

When we pulled up to the restaurant the sign was off out front, but I'm glad we went up to the door and realized they were open. The service at this restaurant was awesome. The waitress was extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. The food was amazing. We decided to try their sushi and Korean cuisine. The sushi was extremely fresh and high-quality. The Korean food was full of flavor and served with the typical Korean side dishes. I think I found my new sushi place in SoHo! I definitely recommend checking this place out.

This place is really great! Love the vibe/atmosphere!!!!! Def suits Soho :) a huge thing I noticed was how accommodating and welcoming all the employees are; even the sushi chefs we're saying hi and bye! Pretty awesome! Sushi tasted fantastic, very satisfying and the Nigiri was so good!!!!... Def going back!

It pains me to give this review as this restaurant has gotten really good reviews so far. We ventured into this restaurant because Soho Sushi was out of parking. We saw that there were good reviews on Yelp for this restaurant so we decided to give it a try. We ordered the Sashimi Dinner with great expectations. Unfortunately, we were severely disappointed as the sashimi was half frozen. I tried to defrost it in my miso soup but that made it worse. Ultimately, Soho Sushi is still the best place to go for sushi in South Tampa. I will, however, come back here to try out their Korean food.

Love this new sushi place and i can easily see that this place will be great competition for my favorite soho sushi. Sushi ninja has excellent sushi, great presentation and great prices. The staff were very friendly and went the extra mile to make sure we knew it! The best feature was the music they were playing throughout. I always say, a good restaurant is great if they play hip, current music and people will come. This place has it all and Im definitely going back regularly!!

I have only been here once and I was not disappointed. My friend and I ordered the Bulgogi and Spicy Fish Cakes. The Bulgogi was sweet and mouthwatering. We received 4 side dishes with it, all which were perfect with the meat. I think they were bean sprouts, 2 types of kimchi, and zucchini. A bowl of rice was included as well. I have been to another restaurant that serves Bulgogi at the same price, but they only included 1 Korean side dish, so I was really pleased with the amount I got at Sushi Ninja. The Fish Cakes were soft, chewy, and set my mouth on fire (in a good way). The texture reminded me of rice noodles. I normally do not like to eat a lot of spicy food at once, but I could not stop myself from stuffing my face with them ;~; The server was polite and even the owner of the restaurant, Mimi, came to our table to chat for a bit. Anyo!~~ One more aspect I liked was the music played: mostly chillstep. I thoroughly enjoyed this place. I will definitely go back for more Korean dishes and I cannot wait~~ I have no opinion on their sushi yet.

We were very satisfied after eating at sushi ninja. The sashimi dinner was very fresh, as well as the sushi. The manager came to our table, who was very friendly and explained how they are very picky when it comes to selecting the right quality of sushi for their customers. The restaurant was very nice as well. Will be back soon.

Best Beebeembop i've ever had. Stuck with Korean, yet sushi bar looked legit as well. Fully stocked. I liked the modern decor w/ tvs and a cocktail bar. Live in neighborhood. Will def be back.

I went to Florida a few days ago on a vacation and found this spot close-by where I was at the time. I was going to dine in but had little time on my hand so decided to ordered a take out just to try their sushi. I ordered two special rolls and one appetizer. I literally took my time then went outside and even wander around for nearly 15 minutes then came back to check on my ordered. As I waited, I noticed there were like four Sushi Chef at the back and one big group of 13-15 people so I understand it may take a little longer. I soon realized I have waited just about 30 minutes before asking them if my order was ready since the table all had their food and half of them did not ordered sushi, plus two other person came in to pick up their food before I even received mine. It was very upsetting and disappointing. I have never waited this long just for sushi, and do believe me, I understand it does take time since I am a Sushi Chef myself. But we're talking about four chef at the back just making sushi (shake my head). I would go there again for maybe just their korean dishes, plus their sushi are alright and I do like their creativity. I have tried better at a cheaper price.

It was a Friday night and the hubby and I look forward to our weekly dinner date and me especially because I love looking for new places in Tampa to frequent . I decided it was a sushi type of night. I've been to the other frequented sushi spots in Tampa that my fellow yelpers have suggested and there was only one place in south tampa I was really impressed with . Ninja sushi is new and got great reviews so why not . This place is conveniently located on Kennedy Blvd so one plus. The interior was sleek and current. They serve Japanese and Korean food so another plus. The only downside is everything was overpriced. The cheapest raw sushi roll was the Yankee roll which was $8.95. Everything else you're looking at 14-15 bucks a roll. miso soup was $3 and edemame $4 . I've been to better sushi places where appetizers are more affordable so needless to say I went straight to the entrees. My husband was a little turned off by the sushi prices that he opted for just a chicken fried rice which was still overpriced . I got the Yankee roll which was good but the portion size not worth the 8.95. The best part of the meal was the Korean spicy seafood tofu soup I ate with banchan . Our waiter was quiet but she asked if I wanted more banchan and that secured her tip. Overall I probably won't come back for sushi but will come back for korean food.

Decided to try a new sushi place in south Tampa rather than my usual Soho Sushi. We ordered crab rangoons to start and they were excellent! We split a few rolls and I cannot remember any of their names but they were all good! This new sushi joint easily became one of my favorites!

Tried this new place today and loved everything from the trendy ambiance, to the service staff and of course the sushi!!!! All different types of rolls you don't normally see at most typical sushi stops. Prices were reasonable too!! Will definitely be a regular here!! Only advice the soft lighting makes it difficult to read the small print menu!!

It's unlike any other sushi restaurants in town. Once you walk in, you'll be greeted by the friendliest staff and feel the warmth. Everything about this place is clean and neat. The restaurant also offers a variety of Korean dishes that are delicious. It's a place you've got to try!!!

We were try to go to another sushi joint down a block but we can;t find the parking so we give the new sushi joint a try, For the sushi be honest with you is not worth the money it is not different than publix sushi, We didn't try the korean food so no common on this

Tampa is not really known for its sushi around here. The best place has been Soho Sushi...until this place!! I'm a HUGE fan!! Every single roll we ate was delicious! I will forever recommend this place to anyone. Their Korean was delicious too! Their Kim Chi Jigae was not on the menu, but they made it for me and it was great. Their Yaki Man Doo is homemade and pan fried. Can't wait to eat there again!

We live around the corner so were very excited to see a sushi place come in! Every roll we've tried has been delicious and unique (especially good compared to other Soho sushi alternatives). Service is friendly and incredibly fast. I will come here whenever I want sushi in Soho from now on!!

We love sushi but were getting tired of the crowds at Soho Sushi. So, when we saw this place open up on Kennedy near MacDill, we stopped in. First impression is the sleek design, upscale atmosphere, cozy with booths and an impressive sushi bar. And what better a place since my wife is Korean, than a Sushi place that also has Korean food. Our impression of both the Korean food and Sushi -- Excellent -- we returned again 2 days later and were very happy both times. That says something, too, because my wife knows her Korean food and says that Ninja does it perfectly. We both loved the sushi -- imaginative, fresh, and prepared quickly by a large staff of sushi makers. The service was perfect in very polite, Korean style. The owner and her sister even stopped by to visit. My only regret...that this review might bring in crowds...I want to keep enjoying it without a wait to get in, but I doubt that will last long!!

This is my first time eating here. When I walked in the atmosphere was very zen and high class. I ordered to go and had their Salmon teriyaki lunch box. It was amazing! It came with 3 pc sushi, 4pc Cali, tempura veggie, and your choice of miso or chicken broth soup. I am not a big Raw fish fan but the host was kind enough to go back and ask the sushi chef if I was able to substitute extra Cali roll instead. It was so much that I couldn't eat it All. They were very prompt on time when making my food when I ordered to go. Will definitely come back and recommend to others.

We tried this place for dinner tonight and we were not disappointed. They have a really wide selection (over 70 different sushi rolls-both cooked and raw) as well as entrees on 2 different menus- a Japanese and Korean one. The sushi was really fresh and the servings were a decent size. I had the Sushi Jo which comes w/ miso soup, ginger salad, 10 pieces of sashimi, and a tuna roll. The sashimi is randomly selected by the chef. You can tell them if you don't like a certain type of fish, but I let them go wild. I don't really know exactly what I got, but it was all good! Haha. We also got a Hawaii Roll which was delicious. The service was a little slow, but good. We will definitely be back.

A hole in the wall, amazing place! Doesn't look spectacular from the outside but believe me this place deserves all 5 stars. The service is great. Super attentive and always seeing if you need anything else (without being annoying, don't worry). The sushi is super fresh. I had the Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll and it was one of the best crunch spicy tuna rolls I've had. My friend had the sashimi dinner and since a year ago when he started going has said it's his favorite restaurant/meal in Tampa. I felt bad straying from my fav Tampa sushi place (Yoko's) but this place definitely can compete with them. It's neat the restaurant also is a mix of Korean as well. Can't wait to try some of that when I return!

  • Diana S.

I had the agadashi tofu and the tofu soup with seafood and it was yummy! Better than expected. As a native New Yorker, i've been spoiled with some of the best restaurants in the world, so it's pretty hard for me to find comparable restaurants elsewhere and i was pleasantly surprised with Sushi Ninja. i can't judge the sushi portion, but their Korean was on point. My sister enjoyed their chicken wings and kalbi and enjoyed them as well. In NYC, i might give this place a 4/4.5 but I think they deserve the 5 stars. Plus, our waitress, Michelle, was very cheerful and attentive and made our experience all the more enjoyable.

I am having easy day off. As a result, we chose a restaurant with lunch special during weekdays only. This restaurant has been in the Bay Area for a year and I saw Anna M. has carry out from this sushi restaurant to watch the movie at home. We decided to try her cinema sushi bite. This is actually mixed of Korean and Japanese sushi restaurant. Our lunch special is perfect here. We have ordered the Kahlbee lunch box. It came with 4 pieces of California rolls, 3 pieces of sushi (tuna, salmon, and white fish), vegetables tempura, white rice and the main item Kahlbee - the Korean BBQ with short rib. I have been eating many lunch box special with California roll. This one has some Masago (fish egg) on top and makes it nicer. The Korean BBQ is grilled to perfect. The meat is tenderized and they not over grill to charcoal. Perfect meat seasoning. We also order the lunch special for additional two rolls with total less than $10. The spicy crunchy tuna and Unakyu Roll (eel roll in eel sauce). I prefer the seaweed to be wrapped outside than inside. The reason is the roll receives crunchy seaweed on the outside than soak and wet to be wrapped inside. The crunch tuna is delicious. They make good use of tiny pieces of tempura chips. Some use the crunchy noodle but I like this restaurant use the tempura chip is more authentic. The service is good. The restaurant did give us a special with 3 small Korean appetizers - Kimchi, fish cake, and egg cake. I love them all especially the fish cake. I would recommend for the lunch special and you can try variety of food with affordable price. I also like the combination of Korean food and sushi.

The place smelled so weird. We couldn't figure out what it was. We sat and waited for 15 minutes before our waiter came over and they weren't busy :/ Their happy hour menu is really weak. See my picture of it. The ginger dressing on the ginger salad was not good. It was like orange apple sauce. It was weird. The tuna sashimi was okay. The New York roll was good. The Volcano roll was good. The California roll was good. The miso soup was okay.

I know this place is called SUSHI ninja. But I'm going to talk a bit about their Korean food. First off......I Love that there is another local Korean restaurant to get my fix at and it's esthetically appealing. The reason for 5 stars, is to good service, cleanliness , lots of choices and food is great! Korean food is a difficult cuisine to make since Time is a key factor. For instance, Handmade soybean paste( base for soups) takes 3-6 months to ferment. The chef here make as much as possible by hand. Even down to their tofu..This is the second place I'll go to if my mom isn't cooking. If your not craving Korean food.....don't sweat it. They have full fresh sushi menu (which their sushi is great) and some Japanese noodles to choose from as well. A little something for everyone so no excuses to try this place out. Hopefully one day the owner will start doing Korean style bbq in one of those back rooms. That would be a dream come true!!

Sushi here is itty bitty! Soondooboo is good, but not the best I've ever had. The restaurant is large and modern. Our waitress seemed to enjoy talking to the sushi chef more than taking our order or checking up on us. Unfortunately, won't be back.

This was our first experience and we are looking to move next door! Haha Seriously, we loved our sushi and ordered a meal off the Korean menu to try and were so happy we did-it was wonderful! We had the Doalsoat Bimibap for an appetizer, then the Bulgogi Roll (surprised to love it as much as we did, although I wanted more eel sauce!), the That Sweet Burn roll and the Sky roll - all without tempura chips (not a fan) and it was a fantastic meal. Our waitress was very attentive and extremely helpful as we were unsure about our Korean food choice and how to eat it. No judgement and very friendly! Can't wait to return and wish we'd come here earlier. Can't believe we've missed out on 9 months of their food!!!

Best sushi in Tampa hands down. I love this place and need to make it a weekly stop. The service is great and always helpful. Everything I have had has been top notch. It's a must try.

The interior was modern and new. There are 2 close door rooms available for private party. The menu got extensive sushi and Korean dish selections. There are lunch special menu running weekday 11-3pm. I ordered a short rib lunch box. 6 pieces of meaty beef short ribs grilled to perfection. 3 pieces of raw fish sushi. Some veget tempura, white rice and California roll. We had crunchy spicy tuna roll and grill eel roll. They were also very delicious. Their pricing is about the same as any other sushi or Korean place. But because their fresh material, big quantity and checf's skill made the meal great value. The manger gave us 3 side dishes to try. They were not bad at all. The services was excellent. If you are craving for some sushi or Korean food, this is the place to be.

Winner winner - $9.95 lunch special is a great deal Plenty of options with a soup or salad. Miso soup was good - not amazing but good. OK roll was yummy - definitely get that again. Service was off a little bit especially for not being very busy - not not a major issue. Just could've been a little better - our server was very nice and friendly though. Will be back and would like to come back for dinner to try more menu options.

Small place w a romantic vibe but sitting at the sushi bar is always an experience. Great deluxe sushi roll selection, they have basic rolls as well but they're only on the white insert, not the glossy menu. Great mix of Korean and Japanese options and delicious green tea with unlimited refills should wet your whistle. I'll be back!!

Korean food? Sushi? YES! Two of my favorite cuisine in one restaurant. Oh yes!! I headed over here for lunch and just kept on eating. We ended up ordering the Galbi lunch bento which includes rice, tempura, california roll and 3 sushi nigiri. It's a killer deal! I also got the sashimi dinner and dolsot bibimbap. I love the interior, it's modern and also has a super nice, large sushi bar. Alcohol is also involved!! Excellent menu with lunch specials, kid specials, Japanese and Korean food. The sashimi was alright, nothing too amazing, but pretty average compared to other restaurants. The Korean food was also pretty average too. I was disappointed that there was only 3 banchans provided for the whole meal. Flavor wise I think I would stick to going to a restaurant specializing in Korean food. It wasn't just all there. I think I would definitely give them another chance and try out some of their sushi rolls.

This review is based solely on the service. I didn't get a chance to try the food but I heard it's really good! My mom and I came here because we were excited for a sushi place that has a full bar. All of the other places we love do beer and wine only. The reviews on yelp looked promising so we gave it a try! The first thing I noticed- and I believe someone else mentioned this- was the smell. It wasn't horrible but it definitely started to bother me the longer I was inside. Once we were seated I noticed that there were several tables that had still not been cleaned from the former diners. This was kind of gross to see old food just sitting there. They had to clean a table for us before we could even sit. The waitress came by after a few minutes and asked for our drink order. When we told her we wanted martinis she informed us that the bartender "had other business to take care of" and wasn't there. She said that no one else was allowed to touch the liquor but she could pour us wine or beer. I'm not sure what other business she had and why no one was able to replace her or take care of the bar but it was pretty annoying. We left after that because a nice martini to pair with our sushi was really the reason we chose this restaurant.

I have been searching for a new go-to sushi spot since relocating from downtown St. Pete to South Tampa, and I believe I've finally found my place! The menu is expansive, with pages and pages of specialty rolls that are separated by "raw" and "cooked." We arrived around 8:30 PM on a Saturday and were immediately seated. Our waitress promptly greeted us to take drink and appetizer orders, and the service never faltered throughout our experience. For my dinner, I ordered the Bahama Cruise Roll that I found satisfying and refreshing. It comes with coconut shrimp, cream cheese, and then has thinly-sliced avocado and mango on top. Delicious! My boyfriend ordered the Udon soup and requested that all the protein and veggies be steamed, not fried, which the chef happily agreed to do. I loved the flavor of the soup, and think I might be ordering this on our next trip. Needless to say, good service + great food = a fantastic experience. And, I mean, how can you not love a restaurant with "ninja" in the name?!

Loved it! Being pregnant, I cannot have any raw fish. They have so many different options of cooked rolls. We ordered the Paradise, Bahamian Cruise, and Seminole Rolls. Each one of them was phenomenal. I can't wait to go back!

First trip here so first impressions walking in is clean, nice layout, nice sushi bar seating and TVs on soccer. Good start. Lights dimmed, music low that makes for nice cozy atmosphere. Greeted with a polite and nice lady to seat us, with hitting them mid afternoon and during their slow time had choice of seating. Chose sushi bar to see how things operate and watch some soccer. Quite a large selection to chose from, after perusing the menu we selected 3 rolls to taste test a little variety. Food was delivered in a very timely manner, beautifully presented and the taste was even better. Well filled rolls with fresh everything, not skimpy rolls at all. Sushi chef checked on us shortly after being served to make sure we were happy with everything or needed anything else. Nice place to have a comfortable seat and enjoy very good sushi. Thanks!

This place is amazing. I love their passion for sushi quality in both presentation and food quality. We try to stop in whenever we can. The price is higher than what we know we can find elsewhere in town, but the quantity AND quality more than make up for it. We don't have to order a lot of sushi to be stuffed when we leave for the evening, and the staff is very friendly.

To be perfectly honest - I loved my lunch here. I happened to be in the area early on a Friday afternoon, and decided it was time for sushi. I was the 2nd car in the parking lot, and one of the first people in the restaurant, but they both filled up super quickly. I sat at the sushi bar, and was pleasantly greeted by both the sushi chef, and a waitress. I ordered the Sushi & Sashimi Special lunch platter. It consisted of 3 pieces of Sashimi (tuna, salmon, and yellowtail), 3 pieces of Sushi (tuna, white tuna and shrimp) and a spicy tuna roll. It also came with your choice of soup or salad to start. I started with the salad with ginger dressing, and I liked that there was more to the salad than just iceberg lettuce, which is so common. Then the sushi/sashimi came. Excellent plate presentation. Gorgeous, fresh, nice-sized pieces of fish adorned my platter. And the flavor - melt in your mouth good. This was, by far, some of the freshest sushi I have ever eaten. And I loved that instead of a boring CA roll, like so many places include with platters, this had a spicy tuna roll which was bursting with tuna. Service was spot on, with both the sushi chef and waitress asking periodically how I was enjoying my meal. I can not wait to go back. At some point I will try the Korean food, but it will be hard to steer myself away from that amazing sushi. This is how sushi and sashimi are supposed to be!

Really enjoyed this place. Casual, yet elegant inside. Friendly & timely service were also delightful. The edamame was smaller than I was expecting, so we did two. I also didn't like the sushi dinner special option here that I typically get (to take advantage of the greater value on sushi) so, I went with the sashimi special & wasn't let down. Even the typical miso soup & salad dinner companions were fresh & well prepared. My wife had California rolls & Bahama rolls. The latter was excellent with Mango & fried shrimp making for both a taste & texture combination worth repeating. They also provided complimentary soup & salad for her since they were backed up in the kitchen. If I make it back down to Tampa again from Chicago, I would be happy to dine here again.

Went here for a date night & the food was great. Some really fresh and delicious tasting sushi. The only reason it gets 4 stars is bc the service was very slow ( the restaurant wasn't busy at all). It's a nice restaurant and we'd go back

This is the best sushi I have had in Tampa. I am accustomed to living in Atlanta and having a lot of great options for sushi. Tampa is not a sushi mecca - obviously - but it's options are all very Americanized with heavy use of cream cheese and disappointing in quality and price. Sushi Ninja is different. Its abundance of selection of rolls coupled with the freshness and ingenuity of the concoctions are spot on. I had the Paradise roll which is essentially stacks on stacks on stacks of flavor. They beat all the other South Tampa sushi places easily. I look forward to going back!

Its a shame, the quality has dropped from my last visit. The little things were lacking, and the quality of the fish bothered me. My ginger were pieces that looked oxidized and we little pieces. My yellowtail tasted a little fishy, it should be creamy and have a little fish flavor. The mackerel was not up to snuff, it was rather mushy. My futomaki roll was good enough, but not rolled like it should. I have had a lot better, and for the cost, it was not worth the money. The sushi chef was chomping gum. Seriously, that is way below my expectations. The waitress didn't come for my order, and after bringing water, there was no tea. I liked it last time, this time, they have let the quality drop.

I had a great meal at Sushi Ninja! I was excited that another sushi restaurant opened on Kennedy and was double excited when I saw the good Yelp reviews. I enjoyed my night at Sushi Ninja. The menu is very extensive with a TON of sushi rolls, Japanese cuisine, and Korean cuisine. I opted for the sushi and got 2 different rolls. I can't remember the names of them, but one of them had kimchi on it and was REALLY good! My dining partners all were impressed with their rolls and we paired it with a nice wine. I'm happy to have another sushi spot nearby!

Wow, the new Sushi Ninja along W. Kennedy Boulevard in Tampa is an excellent Korean and Japanese Sushi fusion restaurant, and definitely a place that you'll want to add to your downtown dining repertoire. You'll find Sushi Ninja across the street from ABC Liquors, and just down the block from Miguel's Mexican. It sits on the south side of Kennedy in between MacDill and Habana. There's a small amount of parking in front of the building, but if you follow the white stone driveway around to the left, you'll find plenty more spaces on the side. At night you can also park behind the law offices located next door, so there is plenty of room for cars. You enter the restaurant on the side of the building, and step into their lobby with the hostess stand and a fish tank filled with colorful sea life to greet you. Sushi Ninja officially opened their doors on August 17th, and I was in there the very next night to sample some of their delicious sushi and Korean cuisine. The restaurant is very trendy and elegant with two private dining rooms, a long sushi bar staffed with four sushi chefs, lots of small tables and booths in the main dining area, and a traditional bar area staffed by a full-time mixologist. They actually have two complete menus -- one for Korean food, and the other for sushi and traditional Japanese dishes such as tempuras, teriyaki, fried rice and udon noodle dishes. The menus are huge, so be prepared to spend some time flipping through the pages as you customize your meal. A little of this and a little of that, and they're happy to box up whatever you can't finish. I was in the mood for sushi, so I spent most of my time on that menu, but I also wanted to sample some Korean food and so I ordered the Haemul Pahjeon, better known as a seafood pancake, for my appetizer. This is an egg pancake that was filled with shrimp, calamari, and mixed veggies. It was very much like a tasty seafood frittata and enough food to bring home more than half for a late-night snack. The Korean menu has page after page of very delicious-looking homemade appetizers, soups, and entrées. There are pictures of each entrée as well as an English description of what's contained in each dish, so that makes ordering very easy. The Japanese menu has over 70 different rolls, again with very clear descriptions of what is contained inside. You can order cooked rolls, or raw seafood rolls depending upon your preference, and you can even ask them to customize your rolls if you don't like cream cheese (Bletch!), or would prefer your sauce on the side. In additional you can order sashimi or nigiri, as well as bento boxes and larger sushi boats for a group. I had several pieces of traditional nigiri sushi (white tuna, yellowtail, mackerel, and crawfish), and also tried two of their rolls (a spicy tuna krab roll, and the New York Yankees roll -- which turned out to be tuna, salmon, escolar, and smelt roe). Everything was super delicious, and my server, Laura, took the time to point out each item so I would be sure to know what I was eating. That's always a real nice touch at a sushi restaurant! While I was enjoying my dinner, I had the opportunity to visit with Executive Chef Mimi Kang, who is a very delightful lady and rightfully quite proud of her outstanding menu. A bit later I also met Lee Son, who is Sushi Ninja's General Manager. Both Mimi and Lee made a point of stopping at each table to welcome their diners, answer questions, and thank everyone for attending. That's very classy! The options on the two menus are huge, and you'll have a lot of fun picking and choosing as you sample some Korean and Japanese yummies for your meal. This is a great place to bring a group, so that everyone can sample a little bit of everything. I wish these folks a lot of success, and hope that they become fixtures in the downtown dining scene. I'll definitely be back for more. In the immortal words of Vanilla Ice, "Go Ninja, Go Ninja, Go!"

I have heard nothing but rave reviews about Sushi Ninja from one of my YFFs, Steve E., and also, from Josh W. Both of them have been guilty of eating here at least twice, if not more, during the week. I figured this restaurant must be good if those two are frequenting the place! We decided to go Saturday night for a quick dinner. In the delirium of my sickness, I forgot that FSU was on a bye and insisted we go somewhere that had TVs, so I could watch the game. I did some research and was happy to find that Sushi Ninja did have televisions! We pulled into the small shopping plaza where the restaurant was located and had no problems parking because the other retail businesses had closed for the weekend. I was amazed with how large the restaurant was upon walking in. I had no idea what was here prior to Sushi Ninja's existence, but from the street, the space looked very small. There were even rooms available for meetings or private parties. The restaurant was designed with a contemporary feel, with minor touches of Asian decor throughout the building. I loved the look of the bar with its beautiful granite counters and wooden shelves that display the liquor that Sushi Ninja offers. We sat at the bar in order to watch the rest of the NCAA Football games for the evening and were immediately handed two menus. The menus had so many food choices and options that they almost felt like telephone books. My date had never tried Korean food before and I had zero appetite from being sick most of the week. Needless to say, we were a both bit overwhelmed with the massive menus and all the food choices. Hopefully, Sushi Ninja will eventually pare down its menu, because it is definitely a lot to look at. I asked Shaine what some of his favorite dishes were and he kept it simple. He recommended the Bulgogi off the Korean menu and the Buccaneer Roll and Cherry Blossom Roll from the Sushi Menu. And that is exactly what we ordered. Shaine told us all about the Sake and the two different flights they offered. I did not want to look at the delicious cocktail menu because I was on antibiotics and did not want to be tempted to drink. So, we both went crazy. Jeff ordered an Asahi Black and I ordered a......green tea. I was a bit disappointed because I think the water for my tea had been microwaved and did not stay hot for long. The Bulgogi came out first with the typical Korean side dishes: rice, bean sprouts, Kim Chi, cucumbers, and seaweed salad. It was very delicious and flavorful. The sushi came out next. The portions were enormous and the presentation of both rolls was superb. The Buccaneers Roll was lightly battered and deep fried consisting of salmon, cream cheese, asparagus, Krab, avocado, eel sauce and spicy mayo. The Cherry Blossom Roll was made of fried Krab stick, cream cheese, and asparagus. Then, the roll was topped with Baked Fish (tuna, yellowtail, salmon, krab), tempura chips, wasabi mayo, eel sauce, flying fish roe, and scallions. Both rolls were delicious. The Cherry Blossom Roll had a little too much on top for me to manage. Since, I was sick with strep throat, I opted to finish the Bulgogi because it was much softer than the sushi. Jeff annhiliated both rolls, so needless to say, he enjoyed them. Prices are high here, but as I stated earlier, the portions at Sushi Ninja are enormous. I had some leftover Bulgogi I was able to take home. As for the sushi, that was already spoken for. Shaine and the rest of the staff were really friendly, efficient, and attentive. When I am finally over this sickness, we will definitely be back. I would like to try their Sake flights and Shane's dessert drinks. I will definitely be back for more Korean food since its location is very convenient to my neighborhood.

Sushi Ninja Tampa is an excellent addition to South Tampa! This sleek and modern restaurant offers innovative cocktails, delicious Japanese and Korean cuisine, and friendly and attentive service. I had dinner at Sushi Ninja tonight with my husband and sister. We started off our meal with some tasty cocktails. I loved my Green Tea vodka cocktail and my sister's Pear Martini! The restaurant offers two menus: a Japanese menu and a Korean menu. There aren't too many Korean restaurants in Tampa so I gravitated towards the Korean menu immediately. For an appetizer we ordered the Yaki Mahndoo (sautéed Korean pork dumplings). Loved this appetizer and I could have gorged myself on dumplings all night, but there were more tasty dishes to try. My sister and I decided to split entrees and ordered the Bulgogi (thinly sliced broiled beef, marinated in a sweet sauce) and the Jopchae (sweet potato noodles with stir fried vegetables and beef). Our entrees came with kimchi, pickled cucumbers, marinated (eggplant?) and some sort of slaw. Both dishes were amazingly good and we have plenty of leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Many thanks to Coty S. for last year's Korean cuisine lesson. Not only was I able to confidentially order from the Korean menu, but I received a compliment from the Asian gentleman sitting at the table next to ours! For those that are unfamiliar with Korean food, have no fear! Sushi Ninja has graciously provided pictures of the Korean dishes on their menu. My husband was craving sushi so he ordered the large sashimi entree that came with 21 pieces of sashimi, a ginger salad and miso soup. The presentation was beautiful and my husband said his sashimi was very fresh and tasty. If I had to give any constructive criticism about Sushi Ninja Tampa my only complaint would be the sushi roll menu. I'm a bit of a crab snob since the company I work for imports blue swimming crabmeat from India and Indonesia. I noticed a good amount of the sushi rolls on the menu contained imitation crab (aka: Krab). My other complaint is that a lot of the "raw" sushi rolls contained tempura cooked seafood. Some others mentioned the restaurant will customize the sushi rolls so I'd consider customizing a roll next time if I was really craving sushi. Had I ordered from the sushi menu instead of the Korean menu I'm not sure if I would be writing a glowing five-star review. This might not be my go to spot for sushi, but I'll 100% be back to sample more of the Korean menu!

Review via take out experience: (Not that the quality of food and service should suffer) Placing order was easy enough. The restaurant is spacious with a long sushi bar and wooden chairs and tables. Typical and nothing out of the ordinary. Saturday night and there was barely anyone at the restaurant for dinner. Two tables were taken in the whole place. Four waitresses walking around and talking. Yet when I showed up for my pick up after standing there for some time I was finally told "someone will be with you in a minute." Another 10 minutes goes by until the hostess from the back walks up to the bar first before acknowledging me. She was holding some half cut jalapeño peppers in her hands and she hands them to the bartender & holds a short exchange with him first and then walks over. Shouldn't she be using a dish instead of carrying food in her hand? Did she even wash her hands before handling food?? Finally she comes up gives me the bill. Which is $19 for ONE single sushi roll!! At the best & speciality sushi restaurants in Vegas and LA I would expect $20 rolls but this place definitely did not hold up to those standards as I had expected. I carry the food out as she handed me the bag. Get home to open the bag and realize she placed the Togo box upside down and the whole sushi roll looks disassembled and not appetizing at this point. How does one mess that up??? I would prefer my sushi not tossed around in a box before it's handed to me. At this point it's late and I'm hungry so I just figured the place is getting some good reviews and that I should look pass everything and just try the food. I had ordered the special volcano. The sushi was coming apart before I could pick it up with chopsticks. Too soggy and the cooked fish in the middle was not tasty. As hungry as I was I ate maybe half of it and threw it away. I was so disappointed. As this whole experience was not bad enough. 30 minutes later I now feel sick and well we all know how that goes... Absolutely the worst experience I have had with a sushi restaurant and their food in Tampa. Don't waste your time, money and health and go to Soho Sushi a few blocks down but you know you will get good service, delicious food & I've never ever felt sick as many years as I've been a customer at SS.

My Bf and I love sushi so decided to check this place out. When we walked in it took like 10 mins for the staff to a knowledge that we were even there. Once seated we sat at least 10 mins before we were even asked about drinks... However the food came quickly. The miso soup and seaweed salad were banging... we ordered so many rolls of sushi and were stuffed. The set up on the plates was beautiful. I will def eat here again. I think we paid $100 but that was with apps, sushi, a beer and 2 margaritas.

Disclaimer: this is a long overdue review as I came here back in early-November. So a lot of adjustments could have been made since then. ------------------------------------------------------- I was in town for just a short while and met up with a friend here on what appeared to be a fairly slow night with about 8 empty tables within my direct line of sight. Despite its perceived slowness, it took had about 10 minutes for us to get seated. By the time we got seated, I was hoping that would be the only frustration. Sadly, it was not. As the server was taking our order, my friend inquired specifically about the protein served in the Bibimbap (a traditional Korean rice bowl) as it wasn't listed on the menu. The server seemed a bit flustered and his befuddled response was (paraphrased) "It's got a bunch of stuff in it with whatever we have in the kitchen." Suffice it to say, I was slightly amazed he didn't know. But my friend was nice and kindly requested the he check with the kitchen to see if it was served vegetarian or beef/chicken... after seeing him walk in and out of the kitchen serving other tables for about 15 minutes later he returned and stated the dish came with beef. If you're keeping track, about 25 minutes had gone by without taking our order. My frustration was wearing thin and was getting "hangry". To top it all off, it crazy difficult to get drink refills all night long. So my friend ended up ordering the Bibimbap whereas I decided on some sushi rolls... given the name and everything the sushi must be pretty kick-ass. The food took foreverrrr -- 20-25 min -- to land on our table... but once it did, my suspicions were correct and I found the sushi quite satisfying. Of the rolls I got, the Crazy Ninja was definitely my favorite. Inside the roll was fried shrimp, avocado, cucumber, Alaskan snow crab then the roll was topped with a tasty mixture of spicy tuna, spicy mayo, "yummy" sauce, sriracha, red tobiko, wasabi tobiko and smelt roe. The other rolls were good too, but the Crazy Ninja was crazy memorable. Unfortunately my friend didn't find the Bibimbap quite as enjoyable. I didn't try any of it, so I'm unable to comment further on it. Overall, the food (sushi) turned out to be really good despite the disorganized and extremely slow service. If you did the math, about 45 minutes had passed between getting seated and getting our food. I've been told that this place recently opened, so I'm sure it was still working out some of the kinks. At the end of the day, the sushi helped win me over and I'd certainly like to give this place a try again the next time I'm in Tampa. Hopefully by my next trip, the service issues have been addressed.

Come here for lunch often. I used to go to Zen when I wanted a box but this place has taken over my Asian lunch box fix. The options for the box are fantastic since not only is it Japanese but also very much a Korean place. The Kahlbee (Korean short ribs) is as good as anywhere I've ever had them and it's one of the options for a sushi lunch box! Yes I know awesome. The salmon teriyaki is another fine choice just not as large of a portion. But what really stands out is the veggie tempura. Perfectly cooked veggie and that nice crunchy shell. For lunch options in this area you don't get a better bang for your buck! *UPDATE* The salmon portion today was much larger and cooked perfectly today! This place is fantastic

Brandons gift to Tampa is sharing Mimi Kang and her fabulous cooking....at Sushi Ninja..... Great Japanese AND Korean food!! We have been customers of hers since she first opened Sushi Ninja in Tampa 13yrs ago. Her new Sushi Ninja Tampa is wonderful. Yes we are biased - However, the aesthetics of the new restaurant are phenomenal. A fully stocked bar that runs the length of the restaurant, two private rooms and a spacious dining area. BUT... the best part is the variety and quality of her menu. Cooked and raw take your pick. The sushi and sashimi are fresh and expertly done. The Buccaneer Roll and OK-Roll are our favorites. The Kalbi Plate and Chapjae noodles are fantastic and are accompanied by a nice variety of fresh kimchi and vegetables. Visit you won't be sorry. Would I go again: Absolutely! After 13 years we have two great locations to visit One request: Mimi...please start serving more Korean in the Brandon location!!

My perspective may be slightly skewed because my only dining experience was for a work event in their group meeting room. It was nice and spacious. The food was decent but it was overshadowed by how extremely long it took to get everything. For a group of 30 people, they had only assigned one waitress. I really felt bad for her. The menu is extensive and it is made up of Korean, Japanese and sushi items. My high maintenance group of co-workers did not make it easy on the poor waitress and ordered just about everything on the menu. They were very eager to please and accommodate our every request. I think this is a mistake for such a large group as there is no way to efficiently take care of that many people with some many different whims. Some of those in our party waited nearly 2 hours for their food because of this. As I said, the room is very nice and spacious and great for special events such as work meetings. If you do decide to hold an event there, I would suggest limiting the available menu for your large groups and requesting extra servers in order to make the meal go efficiently.

We went here on kind of a time too early to be called dinner, but to late to be called lunch (lunner?). They have some specials that are pretty good for the budget friendly (as sushi prices can get out of control) and regular prices that range from $5-18. I have to admit that the place smelled really weird and almost made me want to leave. But, beyond that, the food was pretty good. The crab Rangoon had huge portions of crab and their spicy tuna was really fresh tasting. My mean ended up costing only $12 and you can't really beat that.

The Yaki Udon, one of my all-time favorite Asian meals, was excellent. It was a nice sized serving and the chicken was tender and juicy. They must have been down a server because the service was a bit slow, but all in all, it seemed pretty solid. I'll definitely be back to try more things.

Tampa's first introduction to an upscale Korean style Hof. If you want to know what that means--- read on: Sushi Ninja is a newly opened Korean restaurant and bar that serves sushi on Kennedy. Their marquee sign out front advertises in hangul that they serve Korean food (reads; Han-kuk um-shik jeom), therefore hoping to attract Korean customers or just weirdoes like me that can read hangul. Serving sushi along with Korean food is odd, but typical... maybe trying to appeal to the average customer that is angry about the overflowing parking lot and long waits at the other sushi place a block away. Ironically, the sushi is secondary to the Korean food even though they have "sushi" in their name. This could also be due to me not really liking their sushi that much at all after trying at least three different kinds of rolls. If I am going to overpay for Korean food, it better be damn good. My experience here so far is just that the food is ok, a bit bland. Chicken wings not pungent or spicy and kimch-jeon not crispy at 32nd Street- Murray-Hill-Manhattan prices. There are many other restaurants in Tampa that serve better quality Korean dishes for 30% less in price. At Sushi Ninja, I feel you are paying for atmosphere, the liquor license, and high rent. $10.95 for 6 chicken wings and $15.95 for a plate of jap-chae (glass noodles)... I guess I need to get over the price and just be excited about having a Hof in Tampa. The appetizers are as expensive at the entrees, yet they do not come with panchan because they are not considered an entrée. To be honest, I feel that I came here for the wrong reason, not yet being informed--- I was expecting a big delicious meal with lots of panchan and no spirits... but, after sitting and observing for a little while, I realized that I had it all wrong. So I ordered the Green Tea vodka drink and proceeded to ponder over the heavenly concoction of green tea, mango puree, and citron. What is a Hof? You can google it, or you can come to Yelp for me to explain it to you. Actually, I don't even know if I am using the correct word ("Hof") because most bars specifically labelled "Hof" are mainly fried chicken, chicken wings, Soju, and beer. Sushi Ninja is more upscale than that. Is there a name for an upscale place that serves anju (drinking food) and high end alcohol, preferably on the rocks? Until then, I will continue to call it a Hof. After all that ranting---So why is this review rated with more stars than needed? While I am not really loving the food or expense, I understand that this business is important for Tampa Bay to have and can see the potential in that. Because their alcohol selection is great, and their mixed drinks are unique. They serve anju style Korean snacks and dishes, meant to be shared while drinking and talking with friends or business associates. They do not serve jokbal, but they do serve yang-nyum chicken wings and golbbaengi-muchim (cold snail salad). So, even though Sushi Ninja is not advertising their business as a Hof, they actually are a decent one and should embrace that. While the food is just ok, the mixture of anju options and drink options combined with good company could make for a five hour drinking party that goes on long into the night in one of Sushi Ninja's private booths. Too bad they are not open late. On a side note: They serve Sol-long Tang (beef bone soup). Typically, when a restaurant serves this dish is either their specialty or they do not bother to serve it all. Has anyone had it here, is it good?

In my opinion this is the best sushi in Tampa. I love my sushi and I am very picky when it comes to quality and selection. I have sat at the tables a few times but I highly recommend sitting at the sushi bar. Be friendly and talk to your sushi chef, I learned a lot about some off the menu items as well as creative takes on some different fish using some tasty fresh made sauces. I rarely eat less than three rolls and try and order different items each time. Everything I've had is fresh and delicious. If you like sea urchin you need to come early in the week as their supplier only comes once a week, I think Tuesday's. If you are a Sushi lover I highly recommend eating here.

I've been in Tampa for some time, and I've been hunting for the best sushi in town. I am originally from the West Coast, so I was spoiled with some awesome sushi out there. After going to 6 of the other sushi restaurants in town, it looks like I finally found the best one. Great service, amazing food, and very nice setup.

Pretty darn good sushi, friendly staff, and the ability to serve you fast when you are needing to hurry, Sushi Ninja can deliver with samurai like speed and precision. I work down the road on Kennedy, almost close enough to walk, and we needed somewhere quick to refuel before heading over to Howl-O-Scream at Busch Gardens. My fiancee was driving out from St. Pete to meet me at my office. Our selection was limited because we needed somewhere close and fast on a Friday evening. I really was craving some sushi but we knew Samurai Blue would be too far and too crowded. I noticed some familiar yelpers that gave Sushi Ninja good reviews and figured I would check it out. We arrive and explained that we only had 30 minutes and we needed to hustle. That was difficult with the size of the menu. But my sushi short cut method is find something with cream cheese and it is probably pretty good. We went with the UT Roll and the Bagel Roll (Tempura). Both were exceptional. The ambiance is chill and there is some nice electronic music playing in the background. The lighting was dim, but typical for a modern sushi place. The staff was friendly. The prices were reasonable. What really makes Sushi Ninja worthwhile is the massive selection. I will definitely be coming back!

Tonight I ordered the 21 piece Sashimi meal. It was the freshest fish I have ever had in my entire life. Everything was absolutely delectable. It was so fresh that It felt as if I caught it myself, filleted it, put soy sauce on it and ate it right there on my boat.

Went late Thursday night, service was bad, they forgot our saki, never checked on us, and when we tried to call our server over we were told to wait and she never came by. The place smelled funny, but the fish was fresh, and tasty. Good fatty cuts of salmon, white tuna was good, and the sushi chef made us the spicy tuna with white tuna on request. 3 stars for the bad service and smell.

Ahhhhh I've been dragging my feet to write this review. Probably because every time I dine here it just gets BETTER and BETTER and I've been waiting a bit to write a review that will properly justify my feelings about this place. First the basics. The location is convenient - especially for Korean food. I live in North St. Pete and week days it is just too hard to go all the way over to W Hillsborough Ave to eat at the regular Korean joints. And yes, I am a super regular at the other Korean restaurant(s) located in South Tampa but Sushi Ninja Tampa is now my Go To Korean Restaurant in Tampa Bay. The hours of operation are great too. They tend to be open later than most restaurants, especially on the weekends which makes it an excellent place to stop by after a show or sporting event. Each visit the service has been spot on. From the hostess, to the servers, to interacting with the other staff and owners. Everyone has always been exceedingly friendly but most importantly passionate about what they do and the food they serve. The ambiance is perfect, especially if you're looking to have a nice dining experience. The decor is slightly upscale but still casual, clean and approachable. There are three separate dining areas - with one of the rooms perfect for a private party or large groups. The food. Oh the food! They have two different menus, one for Japanese cuisine with an extensive sushi selection, the other menu with Korean options. The first time I visited I was a little sad that the Korean menu was somewhat limited. Now I've learned that some of my favorite Korean dishes not on the menu are available with more options being added to the menu in the near future. Over the four times I've dined here, I've had the opportunity to try a lot of the Korean dishes and have been impressed every time. Servings are generous and the banchan is fresh and they offer a variety. For my Korean alcohol lovers out there, they do offer different types of soju (and sake) and will be having *gasp* makegolli and hite beer soon. And I can't forget the sushi! The sushi menu is huge and tons of creative options for those sushi lovers who like raw or cooked sushi. The fish is super fresh and the presentation is beautiful. I've already dubbed this place my "happy place". Hopefully you will get the chance to try it out too and see why.

This is basically two restaurants in one, with a single menu but two kitchens (one Japanese, one Korean). The food is pretty standard fare - the usual assortment of nigiri sushi and rolls and Korean staples. Quality is not bad, but not particularly great either, especially for the price. Their Korean is better than their Japanese (in terms of both price and quality), based on what we ordered.

The only reason this place gets three stars is solely based on the food.. Not the service. We were ignored for 20 minutes.. Then I had to flag someone over to help us.. Was told "we were lost in the craziness" (it wasn't busy compared to any other busy restaurant) "hot sake" was cold.. Appetizers came out with the sushi.. Ugh.. But behind all the terrible, the food replaced the negative. We decided we will call in Togo orders.. But will never sit in sushi ninja ever again.

Don't waste your money. Sushi is overpriced and not good. This was the biggest waste of money that I have ever spent in a restaurant. Atmosphere is nice other than the jock jams playing in the background.

We live around the corner so were very excited to see a sushi place come in! Every roll we've tried has been delicious and unique (especially good compared to other Soho sushi alternatives). Service is friendly and incredibly fast. I will come here whenever I want sushi in Soho from now on!!

Service at the ninja was slow, waited over 5 minutes at hostess stand to be seated, food was overpriced for what it was. Noodles were not served hot although taste was great. Won't be back.

The Yaki Udon, one of my all-time favorite Asian meals, was excellent. It was a nice sized serving and the chicken was tender and juicy. They must have been down a server because the service was a bit slow, but all in all, it seemed pretty solid. I'll definitely be back to try more things.

Tampa.

Decent sushi at market price. Not worth drive to here from st Pete. The place was nice with friendly staff. It is average imo. We went here because my gf who is a sushi snob got reccomendation from her friends.

Ninja sushi is an awesome place where you can get amazing Korean food and equally amazing Japanese dishs and picture perfect sushi, that taste as good as they look. The wait staff is so friendly and helpful. I had the spicy squid and vegetables ,the dish was superb
